Something interesting... hehe...

一個溫暖的家;
兩隻操勞的手;
三更不熄等您歸家的燈;
四季注意身體的叮囑;
無微不至的關懷;
六旬婆母的微笑;
起早貪黑對孩子的照顧;
八方維護您的威信;
九下廚房為了您愛吃的一道菜;

一個男人的責任;
兩肩挑起的重擔;
三更半夜的勞累;
四處奔波的匆忙;
無法傾訴的委屈;
留在臉上的滄桑;
七姑八姨的義務;
八上八下的波折;
九優一疵的凡人;

Pain, Pain, Pain

Went Rollerblade with Simin, Alvin, Xinyi & Teak Liang cycled.
The previous time when I bladed was 10 years back when I was still 17!!!
Getting old... Fell down 4 times, the worst was the last fall... My back hit the curb... Pain...

Fortunately I was mentally prepared for the fall, used my hand to support me!
More fortunately, my hand was strong enough to support me!
My 40 Push-Ups every morning was not wasted! hehe...

Still remembered once I was on the blade, I regretted to rent the blades... Should have rent the bicycles... haha...

In general had a pretty fun time. With Alvin's guidance, I managed to get a hold out of it (although still felt a little awkward & occasionally trying to balance myself). V-shape, bent my knees alittle, bent my back. haha...

Have been thinking of taking up blading when I was 21... Until now, then I bladed... haha...

MayDay DNA Concert - 280809

Woohoooo!!!!
My FIRST ever Concert attended!
五月天 really ROCKS!!!
Once they started singing, here goes the choir! haha...
Eveyone just couldnt sit there to enjoy the concert!
We had to SING & DANCE!!!! wooohooo!!! wahaha...

This was also the first time I saw my friend (who is a little introvert) screamed! Really a Rare Sight! haha...

Surprised given, they sang Hokkien songs. I had been listening some of their Hokkien songs (轧车, 志明与春娇, I Love You 无望) recently! These songs were GREAT! I was still wondering would they sing H0kkien songs initially and they did! Well Done! wahaha...

Their 舞抬魅力 nothing to say. EXCELLENCE! haha...

But, But, But... haha...
According to my friend, last year concert was better. Was HIGHER!!!
We also feel that Lead Singer (AShin) was either not feeling well or his singing standard drops. He sang off-key quite a few times and his voice was not as power as before.
As promised it ended around 12.30am, but it started at 8.50pm. When 11.30pm, they started to bow. Then audience shouted "Encore!" or "五月天!" Bloody hell, we should shout "退钱!!!"
Lastly....
a can of f**king drink cost $3!!! Really is a Day-Light Robbery!!! KNN!

In conclusion, I enjoyed myself! Fortunately managed to persuade my friend to go, or else I would have missed such Great concert again! wahaha....

Time really flies...
Just spent 3 weeks just like this!!??
Tml will be last day of my ICT...

dont know why... have this 依依不舍的感觉...
things have changed quite abit... Thats includes myself...
but somehow old images just somehow "flowed" out...

Times we grumbled, Times we teased at each other, Times we just laughed out LOUD like nobody's business (maybe only me)....
Dont know what to say...
Till date, have no regrets of leaving the Force.
Maybe really really have a GREAT time with this people, thats why make me feel a little sad that gona leave. Which I think there will be no second opportunity again that we can really work together like we used to be again...

1st August 2009

Kind of a Special Day...
Still remembered last year, 1st August 2008, I went CAB to collect my Pink IC.
Then went to Loyang JTC for lunch, then saw Rong Kun. haha... What a co-incidence....

Times flies... A year has passed! I left the Force for 1 damn year! Just feel that it had happened last month. haha... Co-incidentally, went for for my In-Camp-Training (ICT) with my previous Senior, Beng Chye. It was a pretty nice to go back base. RSAF is really a dynamic organisation! Management movements, change of organisation, physical locations, the way they do things... Feel that what I know is kind of out-dated! haha... But it was a really nice to go back! Saw a lot of comrades, used to work and play together. Misses those dayz... haha...

Besides joining Tampines Changkat Toastmasters Club, to be frank I didnt see much achievements after 1 year. Fortunately joined Toastmasters, or else there will be NO achievements! haha....

On this SPECIAL day... went lunch with Teak Liang, helping on the long waiting chalet gathering! kind of look forward to it since 2-3 weeks ago. Cause the last chalet secondary school gathering was made 13years back! haha... Glad to see that after 13years, it came back! Have to Thank Teak Liang! He did most of the planning, organising and co-ordinating! Thank You!

On this SPECIAL day, it was Simin's BirthDay too! So a simple celebration was done (Should make her pay more for the chalet. haha...) BBQ, PS2 and 007 game... Was drunk again!!! My body was in red. I drank about 8-10 "Nilp"... At first I was sitting playing, I still didnt feel that drunkness. I only knew I was DRUNK when I went toilet to pee. Fortunately still managed to complete my pee and "climb out" to lie on the bed. I collapsed at 2am in the morning. haha...
Too bad Calvin (Angeline's Husband), it was a pretty good chance to let me say out the "NAME". If u had planned, I would have fallen into ur trap! hehe... In general, I had a great time! Once again, Thank You Teak Liang!

On this SPECIAL day, Samuel's 2nd daughter, Reene's Baby Shower! WOW!!!! You and Diana have 2 kids already!!! haha... Didnt manage to talk much as was planning to go back chalet. A surprise! I saw Ng Ling Ling Dawn! I think I did not see her for 13 years! haha... We couldnt recognise each other AT ALL!!! But she was worse! She couldnt remember this a guy call "HanBin" in the class.... WTH!!! To be frank, I feel she seems to have 失意症. Besides Diana, she knows no one. Asbolutely NO ONE! A little exaggerating though... haha... But nice catching up with her despite I had to handle her like a brand new friend. haha...

Tampines Changkat Toastmasters Club - 359th Chapter Meeting

This was the 1st time I was holding 2 Appointments in a meeting.
Table Topic Master and Project Speech Evaluation.

The Theme I chose was "Positive Quotes".
I personally found it rather challenging! I was impressed by members! Despite the difficulties of my wrongdoing, they spoke well! Well Done! (My retribution will come! haha....)
Feedback from General Evaluator:
1) The quotes were too long. For Table Topics sector, will be recommend that each topic is not more than 4 words. I totally AGREE! Thank You for the feedback!

Project Speech Evaluation:
Thanx for Coen Tan's tips on evaluation, i feel that I did better this time round. At least not as lost than the first evaluation done 2weeks ago. haha... But to evaluate my speaker (Simon) was pretty tough. He was GOOD! I didnt manage to find any flaws in his speech. His speech was easy to follow and understand. Personal experience sharing made me like to listen to him more. Good opening and closing. With the recommendations I gave, I gave him. I feel so guilty... It was just like purposely find fault on him to penalise him... haha... I only spoke for 2min flat. Too short!

In general, this evening chapter meeting was a power-pact one! Good Speakers & Impressive Evaluators! I need to pull up my socks!!!

Anyway Thank You Virgina for the Dinner! I LOVE it!

First Evaluation Experience

Yesterday marked my first evaluation experience.
My first time had given to Temasek Polytechnic Toastmasters Club, Hali.
Felt ashamed that I didnt manage to give him a good evaluation in the 2-3min evaluation presentation even though I had all the information with me. But I totally have no idea how to organise them, it was kind of a total hay-wired. haha... Oops...

Even though I feel that I didnt express well in that 2-3min, but at least I managed to give him a proper debrief after the meeting. To be frank, I was very impressed with him. I couldnt find much fault in him except found him a little nervous especially between in the middle till the end of the speech. I liked his descriptions. His speech was about his LOVE and PASSION in riding. I could tell he really likes the feeling of riding. He described car and lecture halls as boxes that trapped stale air. I especially liked some of the words he used, "electric massage for my brain", "a system check for my soul", "process of motor-cycling forces me to the environment" and "always engaged to the outside world". Beautiful! I could see you were fantasied and you had also estancised me. Well Done!

Seeing Temasek Polytechnic Toastmasters Club, I was really impressed by the club.
Firstly, the attendance. I saw 30-40 participants. This was a very impressive attendance.
Secondly, the speakers. I feel that they spoke better I do!
Thirdly, they were ALL very enthusatic, passionate and committed about it!

I dont know what to say, I was just simply IMPRESSED by these group of youngsters!
Young, Bold & Furious!
It reminded me when I was in my poly life. I was rather active in activites during school holidays and pretty active in my own project team activites during my academic studying period. Everyday, I was a Happy guy walking around saying "Hi!" & "Morning!" to people, shaking hands with people & hugging people all around the school. haha.... Seriously, I enjoyed that.Even though I had still quite a number of poly friends still in contact, but when we met up. We were still joking and laughing but I felt that something had been missing. I believe the environment played an impt factor and perhaps all of us had grown more matured. haiz... Growing up...

Anyway to our Young Toastmasters:
You did a GREAT job! I had enjoyed the session!
Continue to be Young, Bold & Furious!
Enjoy as much as you can because after this stage of your life, it will be difficult to have this group of friends, feeling and setting. Even though u all will still meet up in the future, but the feeling wont be the same as what u are experincing now!

But please be reminded, your studies is still the priority!
All The Best and Hope to see you soon!

at the Tampines Changkat Community Club

13, Tampines Street 11, Singapore 529453

We also have an invited speaker, Nick French, ACS, CL, to give us a Special Presentation - "It's Fun to be Funny!"

Do you yearn to be a more entertaining presenter by injecting humour into your speeches? Are you afraid to administer the needle – or perhaps don’t know how to operate the syringe?

Delivering humour is certainly one of the most difficult elements of speech crafting. Find out what it takes to have fun preparing and presenting humour while transforming an ordinary ‘simply static’ speech into one that is ‘stunningly fantastic’. Learn techniques in applying humour and develop a reputation as a confident, competent, and entertaining speaker.

About the Speaker:

Nick French was born and educated in Harare, Zimbabwe

He is qualified with a Master of Science degree in Metallurgy and Material Science and an MBA from the University of Cape Town, South Africa – longer ago than he chooses to remember!

His South African based career has spanned a number of sales and marketing positions in the industrial gas, base and precious metal industries and more recently, petrochemicals. He has extensive sales experience in Europe, South America , the Middle East and of course, the Asia Pacific.

He joined Sasol, a South African Energy company in 1994 and shortly afterwards was transferred to Singapore to establish the regional sales office. He is currently the Asia Pacific regional marketing manager for the chemicals division of Sasol, where his responsibilities require him to work across most Asian cultures.

Nick’s interest in Asian culture and etiquette inspired him to write a book on this subject – Asian Ways , (www.Asian-Ways.com) which was published last year.

He is a past president of the SIM II Toastmasters club and over the last three years has competed in a Division B and District 80 speech contests.

Updates...

It was almost 2 full months that I update the blog...
Have been a busy 2 mths...
Events taken place since:
1) Pulau Ubin on 11/4/2009
2) Celebrating BirthDay with Family on 25/4/2009
3) Celebrating BirthDay with ESC on 1/5/2009
- FUN! FUN! FUN! Without FAIL, We were as crappy as before!!! wahaha...
4) Johor trip on 2/5/2009
5) Undergoing Chiropractic Treatment
6) Undergoing NLP coaching
- interesting. Really managed to know my strength & weakness better. Although did not manage to instantly change a very efficient & strong person, but at least now I feel I am more ZAI & not so easy affected by other people & personal emotion. Will encourage everyone to go for it if u can find someone u trust for NLP coaching. Anyway, Thank You Gregory! Really appreciate ur Coaching.
7) Training for Adidas SunDown Run
- Jogged for 1.5hr, ard 12km every time. The best part is... I slimmed down!!!! woohoo!!! dont know whether can i really be a macho man this time round. Target: Year-End Standard Chartered 42km Full Marathon.
8) Adidas SunDown Run on 30/5/2009
- My timing is 66min. Was rather disappointed as i was aiming to complete in 60min. Nevertheless, admired myself for the last 2km. I thought I had given up, somehow at the last 2km, the MOTIVATION came! Just CHIONG! Lesson Learnt: WILL power is very important!
9) Toastmasters Club Movemet
- Presented my Project 10. Got my Competent Communicator. Seriously, feel that i didnt do well for this project. Now CC already, really have to buckup, or else will be damned embrassed!
- First time Toastmaster of The Evening in 7/5/2009. Eye-Opener. Still have lotz to learn!
- Organise Committe for "8 Steps for Successful Job Hunt". Anyone interesting can let me know.
- Selected as Vice President Public Relations. Kind of think back... My English capability isnt that HIGH, will be a challenge! haha...
10) Work
- Attended quite a number of courses, feel so good! Just feel like back to students life. Care-free... haha...
- As office doesnt have internet access, will have to research for things i dont know at home... Problem lies when I reached home, just simply dont feel like working... haiz.. Thats why i still not so successful. As learnt from NLP coaching, alot of people know alot of things. But what make successful people are, they moved forwaard by applying the knowledge they know and thats why they are successful. Nothing special...

I think this is more or less what I had been busying with for the past few months. Also realised that I am Thumb Up when settling other people's problems/issues, but Screwed up when handling mine... haha...

Tasks:
1) Still owe Taiji Teacher her website
2) Sis old latop to WinXP
3) Think of something outstanding that can help to publicise Tampines Changkat Toastmasters Club
4) Prep for HP-UX CSA HP0-A01 Exam
5) Run half-marathon

Almost 6months has GONE, what did I achiveve???????????

Glimpse of Tampines One

wahaha...
Had a glimpse of Tampines One this evening... hoho...
Although there was sign not for public, but hack it, cheong!
hehe...

There were quite of alot contractors, bosses, workers, cleaners, furniture and DUST!
Many were there doing their last touch-up for the official opening tomorrow.

Realised the walking area is about the same as Tampines Mall.
20-30% of the shops are selling Japs related stuffs (Wine, toys, food).
Saw UNI-QLO, the temptation to buy this brand clothes isnt as great as compared when I was in Japan. haha...
Glad to see Challenger is back to Tampines, at least I dont have to travel too far to "fire-fight" my computer... haha...

I think there is this place called 新天地 at top level. Suspect is a KTV lounge. YEAH!! Really miss a KTV place in Tampines after KBOX at Pavilion was demolished! Hope this new place is not too expensive! wahaha....

Another thing that came to my attention was this claim fountain that can be found at B1. Dont really know how to descibe, just feel is unique. haha...

Lastly... According to news, all shops are rented. I was just thinking will all the shops still be rented after 6-12months time...

Toastmaster Meeting - 020409

Today attempted my first Table Topic question & my questions was "That was the last time when I was ..". I took me quite a while, what the hell man??? haha... Feel that I didnt really say alot of relevant stuffs, rocking & swinging were observed. At least I made my first step, hopefully it wont be my last. haha...

Time: 1min 47sec
Ah Counting:
- 1 er
- 1 so
- 1 "i mean"
Total: 3 ( Feel that the Ah Counter is too merciful... maybe due to recession, "put water")

Word of the Day: Jaded.
I was too nervous to use the word. Brain was blank when I was up there... haha...

Some interesting words or phases encountered:
- renew & rejuvenate
- remove old trees for new shoots
- a dust in the wind
- wisdom from this above
- adventure or vegetation
- to TRY is to FAIL
- life in ever-changing
- a dignified exit from this world

Bedok Reservoir Night Jog

Cool...
Happy Liang first training and also my first time to jog round reservoir at night.
Pretty gd experience, cooling. As for clear alot of the bushes, the chance of snake-sighting should be greatly reduced.

Feel that stamina improved alittle. Had been training this week. This is my third jog since last Saturday. haha...

But dont think will have the discipline for the 6-pack... haha...

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

Night Jogging

went for night jogging...
SHIOK!
Cooling...
Covered the area I used to cover in 30min instead of 1hr...
hehe... Bedok Reservoir training did help...

Realised that there are more and more people are jogging at night or taking up sports...
Thats a good sign. At least people are now more aware of their health & fitness...
hehe...

A Week without ESC

Weekday... Rushed my assignment as on Friday I volunteered to be volunteer for Corporate Citizenship for Fei Yue to go to Science Center... hehe... At least managed to complete my assignment on Thursday. Yeah!

Then Friday, Fei Yue & Science Center. Shag... These kids ran about.. haha.. But in general, they were quite obedient children, once called their names, they would stop and wait for u. So still a very pleasant experince with them. There was a boy who most of the teachers said that he needed some special care & needs. After taking care of him for a few hours, could feel he was alittle different but in general he was a cheerful boy. Feel that he has talent in music, at least when given an instrutment, wont hear noise as compared to other kids... haha... Could see that most of the kids had enjoyed themselves, & that included me (the big children). hehe... Then met Teak Liang, Simin, Alvin, Xinyi, Angeline and Kelvin for dinner. Didnt see Angeline & Kelvin since their marriage last year... haha... A good outing, lotz of catching up. GREAT!

As for Saturday... ESC went Malacca for fattening programme, so i was thinking to go Bedok Reservoir to jog. Before I stepped out of house, received a phone from my cousin-in-law saying that her car's tire puntucal near my house, needed some help. I went down... Realised that I acutally forgot how to change a tire... haha... Fortunately, my cousin came in time for the resue... haha... Then I continued my jog to & at Bedok Reservoir... A detour to Temasek Poly to shit... hehe... Then carried on with the jogging... Found that Bedok Reservoir had changed alot! More trees & more activities. Forest adventure, water sports; not as boring as before... Then saw these group of Ah Mos kids doing the Forest Adventure programme. From their age, I felt that at certain extend (at least at the point of overcoming fear), they were stronger than me! Saw this kid, was crying when overcoming the obstacles. But he was still able to move on with tears & crying for 'Mummy'. Interesting part was he carried on with all the obstacles just like this. Reluctant, yet complete the obstacles. Admired his courage, because I remembered when I was 18 I went for a Adventure course doing the same obstacles, I was shivering like hell... managed to move on, but at an astonishing speed. How useless am I.... haha...

Then that afternoon when Toyota showroom to test drive Vios E, feels that it is easier to control... haha...

Sunday... While ECS was enjoying, I went to swim as per normal. Maybe due to the school holidays, there were very little people at the pool. Quite shiok! Went 光音庙 to pray, then went back home. Shortly, my father came back saying that the van's tire spoiled need to change. Then went to change the tire to the spare tire. After changing to the spare tire, my dad & I went for a test drive. Realising something was not right with the spare tire while driving, my dad called me to alight and check the tire. WTF!!! The tire was 'swalloned'! Then STUPID ME, still went touched the damn tire. Heng, the tire exploded after a while I touched the tire lor... Or else, i think I will lose a hand or maybe a finger... Called myself a Senior Tech, phew! After the tire flatened, I changed back the spoiled tire to replace the flaten tire... At least the spoiled tire will be able to 'endure' till the workshop... So I had changed tire 3 times in 2 weeks. Somemore the last one was along roadside... Scary man!

Then now, trying to complete the setup for Joomla... hehe...

Test Drive Vios E

hehe... went test drive Toyota Vios today...
quite a good experience...
still remembered previously drove Altis, i was unable to gauge how far am I away from the front.
At least for Vios, maybe due to its small size, it is easier to control and able to gauge the distance better...

ToastMasters Club - 19/3/2009

Today, I reached the club at 8.40pm... Waited for Bus 168 for 30min at Woodlands...
Another encounter with our Best Transportation System company.

Anyway, I presented my Project 9 today.
I felt I performed rather well. Although there were a little hip-ups at certain portions of the speech, still managed to return back to track after the hip-ups.

This is what I said:
Good Evening, Club President, Fellow Toastmasters & Guests.

Why did I learn Taiji?
I remembered 2 years back, I was looking for a sport; hoping that this sport could become a hobby that I can enjoy even when I am old. But I had set a few criteria’s for this sport. Firstly, it needs to be physical-intensive. I will like to exercise and to keep fit. And I enjoy this sport regularly basis. Secondly, I liked to learn basic self-defense techniques. With these 2 criteria’s, there are a few options. Silat, Taekonwdo, Aikido and Taiji. Knowing that I was 25 and not going to be any younger; I won’t be able to endure pain as I used to be; I won’t be able to recover from sprain and wound as quickly as compared when I was 18. I left with only 1 option, Taiji. And coincidently, there was a Taiji class poster at my void deck’s notice board. I enquired. Then 11th September 2007, Tuesday 8pm marked my first encounter with Taiji.

So what is Taiji?
Taiji is an internal martial art developed in China.
To direct translate Taiji into English, it means 'Supreme Ultimate Force'.
But in Chinese, Tai means Very while Ji means pole. POLE. Pole is the starting and ending point or turning point.. So Taiji means the very starting point or turning point of change. Taiji is the martial application of the art, the art of balancing changes.

Taiji consists of a series of slow and controlled movements which were derived from other external martial arts such as Shaolin. These movements helped practitioners to restore the normal flow of the body’s energy. The body’s energy is usually refered as “Chi”.

To explain a little about “Chi”. In Chinese philosophy and medicine, "Chi" is a vital force that gives life to the body. Tai Chi boosts the circulation of this "Chi" within the body and thus enhances the practitioner's health and vitality.

Common Misconception
After 18 months of practicing Taiji, I realized that there are a few misconceptions among people about Taiji.

1. Taiji is not a martial art.
The first misconception is that Taiji is not a martial art.
Taiji is a martial art. Same as other martial arts such as Silat, Aikido and Taekwondo, through practicing, it trained our reflexes to protect ourselves. Similarly, Taiji has basic dodge, block, punch and kick. What is different? The different is we do it slowly, gently and gracefully. The reason why we do it slowly is to reduce stress and tension, and at the same to smoothen our joint’s motion and function. By not doing it that slowly and gracefully, will result in hurting oneself while practicing. 1 very good example to describe the gracefulness of Taiji was the Taiji performance in Beijing Olympic 2008 opening. I believed many people in the room should be very impressed with the performance.

2. Taiji is for sick or old people
The second misconception is that Taiji is for the sick, weak or old.
It is, but not exclusively! I can only put it in a way that Taiji can be learned by a very wide group of people, from young to old, strong and the not so strong. The strong and young ones usually are suggested to bend their knees more while those that are not so strong or young will be advised to bend their knees slightly. This is to train our knees. In the exercise point of view, it will gradually and slowly it builds up our muscles and strength.

To conclude, why I learned Taiji.
I practice Taiji as a form of exercise and at the same time to learn self-defense techniques. I understand a lot of people are interested in Taiji, especially after last year’s Beijing Olympic Opening. But many were bothered by the misconceptions and were embarrassed to know more and learn. I hope after my presentation, I had clarified the misconceptions about Taiji and have encouraged everyone to open-up our mind to this gracious sport.

Thank You.

Back Dated...
This meeting, we were having our International Speech & Table Topics Contests.
Initially was part of the contestant, but I didnt prepare, so withdraw on Saturday. haha...

But this meeting, I didnt expect it to be so fun. Really enjoyed the session. I love the humor of the speakers! Fantastic! Should be considered fortunate that didnt have to complete with them... haha... All the speeches were so good! The judges got a very very tough time man!

The Best Mission & Vision Statment

Suddenly remembered this incident that happened when I was still in the force when the Air Force liked us to contribute to think of Mission & Vision statement as they feel that we should be the one to determine the culture of the working environment. In conclusion, I heard the Best Mission & Vision Statement ever.

Mission: To have a Vision
Vision: To complete the Mission

Savings or Luxury???

Savings or Luxury....
My Luxury refers to Car...

Heard that this is the best time to buy a car, so thinking of buy 1 too...
A few considerations:
1) I dont really like to drive... So will have lesser chance to take public transport to see 美女. haiz...
2) Lesser savings, or even no savings...
3) Must be able to put my Sis's luggage
4) Will expect phone calls to pick this person, that person. Worse... Cannot reject... haiz...
5) Car... Commitment should be at least 5-10years. So must make sure I have income until then...
6) What kind of Car? In mind, Nissan Latio & Honda Jazz... I always heard from friends saying that the next car must be bigger than the current one. If this thinking lies in most car owners, I believe I will become one of them too. Now I buy a relative big car, can I still afford my next one? haiz...

On the other hand, may need it for work as my actual work place will be inaccessible.
I am just thinking how can I use this vehicle to make more $$$... haha...

I once heard from my dad saying that quite sometime back, in most insurance companies, they have this unwritten policy. The agent need to buy a BMW or MERCZ then can continue to work in the company. This is to force their agents to work harder so they can bring in more business & at the same time to pay for their car. Many succeeded! Even those who didnt make it, so made it to a Toyota as they also piang.

I am just thinking, will this happen to me??? To be frank, have been quite slack for the past 6-7 years. Despites part time studies and really busy at work, I feel that I didnt achieve much. In fact I felt much more sense of achievement when I got my driving license than I got my degree... haha...

Just wondering, will this car able to force me to achieve GREATER heights? If now dont CHIONG, I afraid will be too late even when I realised it. haiz... haha...

Buy car also think so much... No wonder till now still no girlfriend... haha...

Another Week...

Have been relax for the past few weeks... hehe...
Dont have to prepare for Toastmasters Project.. Next week, the cycle will come again... haiz...

Today I went for blood donation at Tampines East CC. Waited for 2hrs... Didnt know that their business could be this good! Sianz... but at least managed to donate & get 2 organisers as souvenirs..

It had been 1 year since the last time I donated. Still remembered the last 3 times the attempt to donate blood, once was rushing for time while others were I was sick the few days before. haiz...

I think now they are also promoting people to donate bone marrow. I also signed up. I remembered last time I heard that one can only find similar in every 1 million. But to be frank, I am still alittle frightened if they really called me up for donation. haha... Maybe because I am uncertained with the procedure of the bone marrow, thats why it imparted fear in me... haha...

Yesterday was 14/2, Valentine's Day. Expected, same as previous years, hugged pillow. haha... Actually had a chance to watch Movie (Brad Pitt's button), but unable to make it on time... haha... Only felt that I had alittle heat stroke as the morning sun was killing me when playing tennis. But still managed to climb home from Bedok Interchange after visiting Bedok National Library.. hoho...

*yuck*

Yesterday helped 大嫂 to warm her house...
I think due to my sudden change of my schedule, brought them some inconvenience...
Sorry...

Yesterday was the 2nd time that I felt drunk.
The first time was in Air Force, when drinking beer. Still remembered that I was very high that day... High & Noisy and gave really mean & humorous comments on people that including my superiors... haha...

Then as for yesterday... Volka... Bloody hell, even we had not started 7-up and 终级密码 . I had drank 2 cups of volka + spirit as I was thristy... Even the games started, I was half-gone... haha... But didnt drink alot as punishment... hehe... As fir this time round, I felt really bad... Felt like vomitting and tired... Just feel like sleeping... Fortunately, I was still 'strong' enough to 'climb' home.

Then before I slept, a question struck me:
How the hell some guys have sex when they were drunk???
I just felt like sleeping yesterday... dont understand!? haha...

Time Flies...

This week past REALLY FAST!
Real FAST!
Is Friday today.
Its seemed to be yesterday that I submitted my weekly report, in fact that report I sent it last Sunday. I still remembered, I was thinking how can survive the following week.

Dont know how to describe... haha...
On the other hand... One month of 2009 had passed... Second month on the way to be completed.

Not yet achieved anything for this year... Argh!!!
Have to BUCK-UP!

Toastmaster Meeting - 050209

Today, I was the Table Topics Master.
Didnt manage to find out why I was so nervous. Nervous to an extend where I started shivering while going to attend the meeting!

Kind of disappointed with myself, bei kao zai! haha...

Some mistakes that I realised:
1) Forgot to lead the applause
2) Shivering
3) Lost of words, unable to continue & dont know how to carry on to the next portion of the program
4) Forgot to greet the President & Audience
5) Almost left out the timing sequence. (Had to thank Susan for reminding me.)
6) Not well-prepared
7) Tongue still stick-out
8) Topics on Paper; Paper on my hands. (Could think of a better alternative to present my Topics, have to be more aware how other people managed this)
9) Distraction: -> back faced audience
-> Canceling movement of the white board (Need to think of something to make better)

Ah Counting:
- 2 ers
- 1 repetition
- 1 then

Word of the Day: Decision

What I learnt:
1) We are always not READY. Maybe thats why the GREATEST enemy is ourselves.
2) 1 coincidence to many
3) Learning is Growing
4) Readiness is the Best Protection.
5) Work too hard, see too little
6) Pet Shop Owner = a person that owns the Pet Shop
7) See an imperfect person perfectly
8) When giving assurance speech - speaks slowly
- heavier tone
9) "I am privileged to be here."
10) 'Flour' is pronounced as 'Flower'.
11) When we are saying the 'V' words, we should feel vibration at our throat & ears. (I cannot pronounce 'V' & 'R'! properly'. haha...)

The wedding banquet Beliefs

Saw the website while preparing for Toastmaster Table Topics:
http://library.thinkquest.org/07aug/02030/Miscellaneous.htm

The wedding banquet
Food plays a significant role because the wedding banquet is held in high esteem in Chinese culture. It is more often than not a sit-down affair that offers as many as twelve courses, with musical accompaniment. The elaborate menu includes any number of Chinese delicacies, including such items as lobster, shark fin soup, abalone, roast pig, fried rice and/or noodles, fancy desserts, fresh fruit and really top shelf cognac.

A traditional example:

- Barbecued Whole Suckling Pig (the bride is a virgin)

- Sauteed Prawns and Scallops in XO Sauce (live happily ever after)

- Braised Whole Conpoy with Garlic and Sea Moss (family unity)

- Deep Fried Crab Claws Coated with Minced Cuttlefish (no specific meaning)

- Double Boiled Superior Shark's Fin Soup with Chicken (wealthy at all times)

- Braised Sliced Australian Abalone with Mushrooms and Vegetables (wealthy at all times)

- Steamed Fresh Garoupa (prosperity)

- Roasted Crispy Chicken (success)

- Fried Rice with Assorted Meat Wrapped in Lotus Leaves (good things coming at you)

- Braised E-Fu Noodles with Shredded Mushroom and Chive (long life)

- Sweetened Red Bean Cream with Lotus Seeds and Lily Bulbs (bear many children)

- Chinese Petit Fours (happy family)

- Fresh Fruit Platter (no specific meaning)

What brought to my attention was this:
** - Barbecued Whole Suckling Pig (the bride is a virgin) **
WTF??? I feel this gone a little too far...

Lou Hei!

Also found this interesting piece of information while preparing Table Topics.
Everytime when we lou hei, didnt know what to say. Below is of great Reference:
Reference: http://superfinefeline.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

Rituals and Meanings

Yusheng plays on the homonyms where yu means "fish" but enunciated appropriately, it also means "abundance"; and sheng means literally "raw" but enunciated appropriately, it means "life". Thus Yusheng implies "abundance of wealth and long life". In Cantonese it is known as lo sheng with lo also meaning "tossing up good fortune". The tossing action is called lo hei, which means to "rise" (hei), again a reference to a thriving business and thus its popularity with businessmen during the New Year.

Step 1: All at the table offer New Year greetings.
Words: Gong xi fa cai meaning "Congratulations for your wealth" or Wan shi ru yi meaning "May all your wishes be fulfilled".

Step 2: Fish, symbolising abundance or excess through the year, is added.
Words: Nian nian you yu 年年有馀 and You yu you sheng.

Step 3: The pomelo is added over the fish, adding both luck and auspicious value.
Words: Da ji da li.

Step 4: Pepper is then dashed over the ingredients in the hope of attracting more money and valuables.
Words: Zhao cai jin bao.

Step 5: Then oil is poured out, circling the ingredients to increase all profits 10,000 times and encouraging money to flow in from all directions
Words: Yi ben wan li and Cai yuan guang jin.

Step 6: Carrots are added to the fish indicating blessings of good luck.
Words: Hong yun dang tou.

Step 7: Then the shredded green radish is placed on the fish symbolising eternal youth.
Words: Qing chun chang zhu.

Step 8: After which the shredded white radish is added - prosperity in business and promotion at work.
Words: Feng sheng shui qi and Bu bu gao sheng.

Step 9: Peanut crumbs are dusted on the dish symbolising a household filled with gold and silver. As an icon of longevity, peanuts also symbolise eternal youth.
Words: Jin yin man wu.

Step 10: Sesame seeds quickly follow symbolising a flourishing business.
Words: Sheng yi xing long.

Step 11: Deep-fried flour crisps in the shape of golden pillows is then added with wishes that literally the whole floor would be filled with gold.
Words: Pian di huang jin.

Step 12: All toss the salad an auspicious 7 times with loud shouts of "lo hei" and other auspicious New Year wishes.
Words: Lo hei which is Cantonese for "tossing luck".

The ingredients are mixed by pushing them toward the centre, an encouragement to push on the good luck of all at the table.

Toastmaster Meeting - 22/01/2009

Disappointed... Very disappointed...
Today I did my Project 8 - Using Visual Aids.
I realised this was my worst visual aids presentation ever!
haiz...

I was too nervous. I stumbled. I forgot what i need to say. Not clam enough. My tongue slicked out again. Then what i felt the worst was I changed my voice... haha... Crapz...

But i still learned alot in this meeting.
Some beautiful words:
- threw themselves into the music
- heartware
- expiring runner, not an aspiring runner
- mother nature

What I say:
One of the greatest safety inventions for the commercial airline industry has been the crash protected data recorder, more commonly called as the “black box”. Today, “black box” is mandatory for any aviation accident involving civil aircraft.

The “black box” package consists of 2 equipments. Cockpit Voice Recorder and the Flight Data Recorder. Cockpit Voice Recorder in charge of recording audio sounds that occurred in the cockpit. Sounds from conversation, PA system and even turning on & off switches are recorded. While the Flight Data Recorder stores aircraft flight data such as altitude, speed and time.

All of the black boxes are painted bright orange with large letters "FLIGHT RECORDER DO NOT OPEN"

Why is it called the “black box”?
It was believed that the initial design of the equipment was in black, but later painted bright orange to make them easier to find at a crash scene.

The concept of “black box” became popular after World War. The First Generation Flight Data Recorders were made of foil recorders. It could only store 5 aircraft data parameters. Despite of the breakthrough in technology at that time, the equipment was still unable to meet the design requirements as 5 aircraft parameters was too little for a meaningful investigation. Additionally, the unit could not survive very well in any crash incidents.

In the 1960s, the Second Generation Tape Recorder was introduced. Investigators felt that flight data alone wasn’t enough, they needed more information. What happened? What did the pilot say to the crews? What did the pilot say to the Air traffic controllers? Did the pilot mingle with any switches at the point of accident? These information was vital in the investigation. Due to the requirement, Cockpit Voice Recorder was born. The recording medium for the equipment was magnetic tape. The CVR could retain the last 30minutes of crew voice communications and noise within the cockpit environment. Then the magnetic tape technology expanded to FDR. The Second Generation FDR allowed the equipment to record more parameters while meeting the higher crash and fire protection requirements.

Then the third generation recording technology uses solid state recorders. “Solid State” refers to storage of data in semiconductor memories or integrated circuits. It was surfaced mounted to the electronics board. As compared to the magnetic tape, solid state memory does not have any moving parts. Therefore, it does not require any scheduled maintenance and has a better crash survivability.

With the current solid state technology, CVR will be record up to 2 hours while FDR can record up to 25 hours of flight data.

Talking so much about the evolution of “black box”, so where is it located?

The only part of an aircraft that is often intact after a crash is the tail section. That is why the recorders are located in or near the tail section. The first recorders were placed in the front and very few of them survived a crash.
Knowing the cause of the accidents, not just solve the insurance issues of the airliners and victims. Neither its purpose is to blame anyone or any party to be liable for the incident. The main objective of the investigation of an accident or incident is to prevention another similar accidents or incidents.

Imagine at least a hundred of the similar aircraft model are flying in the sky. If the accident was due to design or even the manufacturing of the aircraft, all these hundred air-borne aircrafts may have a risk to have the same fate as the one that had just met the mishap.

While the initial phase of an accident investigation can be concluded within weeks or even days, the investigators' final report and recommendations often take years to complete. The final report consists of information about the accident, an analysis, conclusions (probable cause) and also includes safety recommendations.

In conclusion, the black box is invaluable for any aircraft investigation. There are often the lone survivors of airplane accidents. As technology evolves, black boxes will continue to play a tremendous role in accident investigations

Thank You.

Time Taken: 7min 20sec

Ah Counting:
- None. (hmm... i think the Ah Counter's ears not very good....)
(I had a few pauses...)

My Evaluator's Evaluation (Grace Tan):
- Present with ease & confident
- Recommedations:
+ Everyone to be issued with coloured pictures of the slides
+ Better to be Power Point slides or Chart
+ Audience was distracted by my give-out
+ hand-shaking while holding the papers

To be frank, I was wondering is it because a 美女 evaluating me,so my heart was like 小鹿乱撞... haha... I wasnt familiar with my visual aids. Additionally, i feel that my preparation wasnt enough... I did not practice with my visual aids. So whenever i started to point at the picture, it broke my rhythm of my speech which was not anticipated earlier.... Sianz..

Must not embarrassed myself again...
Must be CALM! When I am CALM, everything can be solved!

Toastmasters Club Meeting - 09/01/2009

This was the first Toastmasters Club meeting for the year 2009 and I had done my project 7 - Research my Topic.

I was an enjoyable as before, learned lotz of good stuffs.

Quotes:

- New Year, New Beginning, New Start, New Opportunity.

- Everyone hols a key

- Walk to talk

What I said:

Coca-Cola is a carbonated soft drink sold in stores, restaurants and vending machines world-wide in over 200 countries. It is produced by the Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta, Georgia and is often referred to simply as Coke or Cola in the whole world.

Do anyone know what is the recipe of Coca-Cola?

As spelled out, Coca refers to coca leaf while Cola refers to kola nuts.

As Frank Robinson, Pemberton’s partner, felt that “2Cs would look better in advertising”, he changed the ‘K’ to a ‘C’ and named the drink Coca-Cola.

Coca-Cola was invented by a pharmacist, John Pemberton. John Pemberton was also the creator Pemberton’s French Wine Coca. Pemberton’s French Wine Coca was an alcoholic beverage mixed with coca, kola nuts and damiana. To side track alittle, damiana is a kind of flower that is used in herbal medicine to treat coughs,

constipation and depression.

French Wine Coca was marketed mostly to upper class intellectuals, afflicted with diseases believed to have brought on by urbanization and Atlanta’s increasing competitive business environment. John Pemberton claimed that the drink would benefit “scientists, scholars, poets, lawyers, physicians and others devoted to extreme mental exertion.”

But in 1886, when Atlanta and Fulton County passed prohibition legislation, Pemberton responded by developing Coca-Cola, essentially a non-alcoholic version of French Wine Cola. The first sale was on 8th May 1886. It slowly gained its popularity in United States at that time due the belief that carbonated water was good for the health. Pemberton still claimed that Coca-Cola could cure many diseases such as morphine addiction, headache and impotence.

When launched Coca-Cola’s 2 key ingredients were cocaine and caffeine. The cocaine was derived from the coca leaf and the caffeine from kola nuts.

Cocaine is obtained from the leaves of the coca plant. It is both a stimulant of the central nervous system and an appetite suppressant. Because the way it affects the brain, cocaine is addictive. The addictive properties of cocaine was only discovered in the early 20th century. At that point of time, The Coca-Cola Company was forced not to use cocaine in the production of the soft drinks. Therefore, till today the company uses cocaine-free coca leafs for her soft drinks. Nevertheless, cocaine is used in medicine as a topical anesthetic, specially in eye, nose and throat surgery.

As for another ingredient kola nut. Kola nut is a genus of about 125 species of trees native to the tropical rainforests of Africa. As the kola nut contains caffeine, it tasted bitterest. In medicine, Kola nuts are often to treat whopping cough and asthma. Due to the caffeine in kola nut, it also acts as a bronchodilator, expanding the bronchial air passages.

There are lots of criticisms on Coca-Cola. The Coca-Cola Company has been criticized for its business practices as well as the alleged adverse health effects of its flagship product. A common criticism of Coke based on its allegedly toxic acidity levels has been found to be baseless by researchers; lawsuits based on these criticisms have been dismissed by several American courts for this reason.

Numerous court cases have been filed against The Coca-Cola Company since 1920s, alleging that the acidity of the drink is dangerous, no evidence corroborating this claim has been found. Under normal conditions, scientific evidence indicates Coca-Cola’s acidity causes no immediate harm.

Another famous criticism was the amount of calories in the soft drink. There are indications that “soda and sweetened drinks are the main source of calories of many people, most nutritionists advise that Coca-Cola and other soft drink can be harmful if consumed excessively. Studies have shown that regular soft drink consumers have a lower intake of calcium, magnesium and vitamin A. The drink has also aroused criticism for its use of caffeine, due to the possibility of physical dependence. A link has been shown between long-term regular cola intake, of which Coca-Cola is the most consumed brand worldwide and osteoporosis in older women. This was thought to be due to the presence of phosphoric acid and the risk was found to be the same in all colas, no matter for caffeinated, non-caffeinated or diet or sugared colas.

With this, I hope that everyone has a better understand ok Coca-Cola & consume moderately if love it. Thank You.

Its all happened on Monday evening.
I felt an instance of stomachache & the pain disappeared, so I didnt bother.
Then the next morning, everything was still fine, until... I started chasing bus 168 in the morning while going to work (although didnt manage to broad the bus due to too many passengers). The pain of the stomach came in and went off. Oh Shit...

I broad the next bus, bus no#27. Then while sitting in the bus, the pain came in more frequent this time. Reaching the Tampines Regional Library, still deciding whether to alight the bus to clear the "custom" or chiong to office? After some considerations, thinking that I could still stop over at Sengkang MRT to ease my stomachache, I decided to chiong. Everything was still as per normally good, until.... Once the bus went into TPE, the pain came again. What the difference was this time didnt go off... Siao liao... The pain continued, it was quite unbearable & I knew they were moving towards "custom". Praying hard I could still control till Sengkang MRT bus stop. To be frank, I had moments that I felt that I might lose control of it. But 感谢祖先 and 老天爷, it didnt happen. Or else I believed that I will definitely appear in stomp or youtube by the name of "LS man on bus".

Finally reached Sengkang MRT bus stop, praying hard and at the same time controlling harder, walked to the interchange. Saw toliet sign, like see saviour. When opened the door... Siao liao... 3 cubincals all locked with another person waiting... Kao... All people come Sengkang bus interchange toliet LS!!!???

Knowing there is alternative (the MRT toliet), I began my hunt. I saw the secuirty guard & asked "Uncle, 那里有厕所?"
He answered "前面." with hand pointing back at the Bus interchange toliet.
Then I continued, "我去过了, 那里没有位."
He answered , "这么会没有位呢?"
I didnt reply him. In mind thinking, "KNN!!! I want to LS, how the hell why no space?"
Didnt feel like bothering him, I decided to find it by myself. (I am not really angry with him, just feel that it should concentrate more afford in controlling and praying, not explaining.)

Fortunately, he realised that I needed to LS & kindly pointed to the alternative toliet.

Found the toliet, FULL HOUSE again!!!??? WTF, the whole world comes to Sengkang to LS???
Thinking of no alternative, I waited. Not long after, someone came out from the handicapped toliet. Feeling luckier, the floor of the toliet was dry, toliet bowl was quite clean. I dropped my pants and ahhhh.......... The moment of release....

It took me about 20-30min to clear everything

I reached office at around 9am. Today was the latest record. Usually I would reach around 8 for coffee then around 8.35am at office.

Really was a scary & torturing experience.
Really pray very very hard this morning that dont "holy shit" and be famous in stomps or youtube.
Really must thank 祖先 and 老天爷: Thank You!
